В издательстве ГИТИС вышло собрание текстов Владислава Ходасевича 1910–1930-х годов, посвященных театру и драматургии. Объединенные в один том, они представляют собой критическую хронику развития раннесоветской театрально-драматической жизни, о которой автор не мог сказать ничего хорошего, расценивал ее в основном как одну из составляющих большевистской пропаганды и тешил себя надеждой, что традиции великого русского искусства рано или поздно вернутся к жизни. По просьбе «Горького» об этой книге рассказывает ее редактор-составитель Валерий Черкасов. «По словам Ходасевича, согласно „советской этике и эстетике“ „всякий отрицательный тип должен быть, если не расстрелян, то хотя бы арестован“».
