Погиб от пули немецкого снайпера в январе 1942 в районе Пулково. Ему было лишь 18.
На Выборгской стороне Петербурга, помимо памятника, есть сквер и улица его имени. Также в состав Большого СПб входит посёлок Смолячково, расположенный на берегу Финского залива.
