Как писала «Сапа», заявление об изнасиловании на своего коллегу Авакяна написала сотрудница республиканской прокуратуры. 16 июля его задержали и отправили в изолятор временного содержания МВД. 17 июля суд продлил срок задержания подозреваемого. Меру пресечения тогда не избрали, так как прокуратура не дала заключение об обоснованности ходатайства следователя.
