وقتی تو حل تحلیلی به بن‌بست می‌خوری، وقتی تقریب خوبی برای حل مسئله‌ت پیدا نمی‌کنی، وقتی نتیجه شبیه‌سازی با داده نمی‌خونه، وقتی داده‌ها ناقص و غیرقابل اعتمادند، وقتی که استاد راهنمای خوب نداری، وقتی که مقاله‌ت بر خلاف همه نوآوری‌هایی که به نظرت داشته رد میشه، وقتی که نمی‌تونی شغل پیدا کنی، وقتی که چند هفته با تمرکز و تلاش بی‌وقفه پژوهانه می‌نویسی و با دو خط ایمیل رد میشه، وقتی که یک سال تمام کار طاقت‌فرسا نتیجه نمیده... وقتی که آه از نهادت بلند میشه معلوم میشه که چقدر علم رو دوست داری!
در غیر این صورت، قمار کم‌برنده‌ایه، قمار علم و پژوهش. شاید اگه کسی این مقدار علاقه‌مند نیست بهتره یه بار دیگه خوب فکر کنه که آیا فیزیک رشته مناسبی براش هست یا نه. و گر نه که همه بعد دیدن مستندهای کارل سیگن یا خوندن کتابای هاوکینگ یا یه شب کویر یا رصدخونه زعفرانیه رفتن می‌خوان فیزیکدون بشن!
