10 октября в Гамбурге площадь на пересечении Биндерштрассе и Фельдбрунненштрассе получит имя российской журналистки и правозащитницы Анны Политковской, убитой в 2006 году. Переименование площади произойдет накануне Недели свободы прессы, стартующей в Гамбурге 13 октября.
Это будет первая площадь в Германии с именем Политковской. В Европе в честь российской журналистки уже существует ряд топонимов: площади в Риме и в пригороде Парижа, парк в Милане, улица в городе Феррара. С 2009 года улица Политковской есть и в Тбилиси. В Европарламенте зал для пресс-конференций также носит имя Анны Политковской.
