we definitely should be connecting the ways that anti-trans, anti-immigrant, anti-muslim "debates" are distractions from climate change more often

i find it's easier to get through difficult times if u dedicate yourself to a purpose
at the beginning of this year i felt crushed by the weight of everything, i couldn't go on. i took a good hard look at my life, forced myself to figure out some kind of future to live for
this was my process as a journaling practice:
1. ask yourself what hurts u the most. what specific mentalities do u want to be eradicated 7 generations from now?
liberation is a long term project, we can only play a small part. thinking of 7 generations before & after us, rather than just our own life, gives better perspective of our life goals & plays a part in ending the individualistic thinking that got our society into this mess
2. what can be done to counter those evils, to offer alternative ways to navigate the world? what could be created to inspire that change in people?
u don't have to be the one to build it, there are many roles within this work, but list out some ideas. start to form an image in your mind here
the ultimate question here is, what would a better world look like? what would be required to make that possible? what is needed to properly support disabled people? what is needed to truly eradicate poverty & inequality? what would the world be like if everyone had full autonomy in their life and in their bodies?
you could spend some time to research leftist & anarchist theory here, and you likely should at some point, but for this journaling project that isn't required. just come up with ideas from your heart, something to inspire yourself towards change. you can learn best methods later
3. now that we have some idea of what world we would rather be living in, let's figure out what we can do to help.
what skills & assets have you currated in your life so far? how could those be used to build what's needed in the new paradigm? how can u contribute to projects that inspire change?
what do you currently have the means & capacity to do? how could you shift your life goals and trajectory to better align with you ideals & eventually increase your capacity for change? what does that timeline look like (in vauge terms), write steps for yourself
take stock of what skills, assets & privileges u have access to, find what struggles u care most about & are most adjacent to, then see how u specifically can contribute to those causes. you can't fix everything, but pulling at one thread works to undo the whole tapestry. find your thread
---
shifting your life to align with the goals of collective liberation means knowing the work u are doing is contributing to ending other injustices in the long run
you don't need to dwell on every single evil that exists, u have ur goals & eventually these things will add up to collective change. having a focus lifts the weight we carry, by letting others carry it for us. don't destroy your mental health worrying about things u can't & realistically won't do anything about
find ur fight, and hold solidarity for others, that's all u need to be doing, that's more than most already
