Подходы к прикрывающим Новоселку опорным пунктам ВСУ были заминированы. Пехота проделала проход для штурмовой группы и БМП, но наводчик боевой машины решил не рисковать жизнями товарищей. Он вылез из БМП, сел на мотоцикл и поехал впереди бронегруппы, проверяя дорогу и показывая, что путь чист.
В итоге БМП штатно дошла до рубежа спешивания десанта, и опорник был взят.
