Лицензии являются частью третьего и последнего транша 33-го раунда лицензирования нефтегазовых участков в регионе. В рамках раунда были выданы лицензии на геологоразведочные работы, которые могут принести около 600 млн б.н.э. до 2060 г., или 545 млн б.н.э. к 2050 г.
Экологические группы заявили, что расширение добычи нефти и газа не соответствует поставленной правительством цели по достижению нулевого уровня выбросов углерода к 2050 г.
