🇷🇺 Russian Foreign Ministry Explains UN Mechanism for Temporary Administrations Following Putin’s Proposal on Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry has outlined the process by which the UN establishes temporary administrations in conflict zones:

➡️The first and essential condition has always been an agreement between the conflicting parties—either directly or through mediators.

➡️The next step involves a formal request to the UN, which can be made by one of the parties, intermediaries, or the UN Secretary-General.

➡️The UN Security Council (UNSC) then issues a directive to the Secretary-General to develop the framework for a temporary administration.

➡️This directive must be supported by UNSC members, particularly the permanent ones. Any UNSC member can submit a draft document for consideration.

➡️The Secretary-General then prepares a report detailing the structure, budget, and operational parameters of the temporary administration.

➡️The UNSC reviews the report’s recommendations and makes a final decision on establishing the administration, requiring the approval of all members, including the permanent ones.

🇺🇦 By the way... Ukraine's Ministry of Defense just created a "space policy" department.

Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization Kateryna Chernohorenko claims it will bring together state and private companies with "space scientists" to assist the military.

She also announced that by 2030, Ukraine expects to have its own defense satellites, air alert systems, and space monitoring.

🐻 Just when you think they've hit peak delusion, they find a way to outdo themselves.

🇮🇹 Italian PM Giorgia Meloni warns of the “ongoing process of Islamization in Europe,” calling it fundamentally incompatible with the values of Western civilization.

She says many Islamic cultural centers in Italy are funded by Saudi Arabia—a country that enforces Sharia law, including stoning for adultery and the death penalty for apostasy and homosexuality.

“This isn’t about generalizing Islam,” Meloni clarifies. “It’s about confronting a cultural shift that is miles away from our civilizational values.”

🇺🇸Internal guidance from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth focuses on deterring China’s seizure of Taiwan and shoring up homeland defense.

➡️Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has reoriented the U.S. military to prioritize deterring China’s seizure of Taiwan and shoring up homeland defense by “assuming risk” in Europe and other parts of the world, according to a secret internal guidance memo.

➡️The document, known as the Interim National Defense Strategic Guidance and marked “secret/no foreign national” in most passages, was distributed throughout the Defense Department in mid-March and signed by Hegseth. It outlines, in broad and sometimes partisan detail, the execution of President Donald Trump’s vision to prepare for and win a potential war against Beijing and defend the United States from threats in the “near abroad,” including Greenland and the Panama Canal.

➡️“China is the Department’s sole pacing threat, and denial of a Chinese fait accompli seizure of Taiwan — while simultaneously defending the U.S. homeland is the Department’s sole pacing scenario,” Hegseth wrote. Its force planning construct — a concept of how the Pentagon will build and resource the armed services to take on perceived threats — will consider conflict only with Beijing when planning contingencies for a major power war, it says, leaving the threat from Moscow largely attended by European allies.

➡️The Pentagon will “assume risk in other theaters” given personnel and resource constraints, and pressure allies in Europe, the Middle East and East Asia to spend more on defense to take on the bulk of the deterrence role against threats from Russia, North Korea and Iran, according to the guidance.

🇺🇸Just days out from Trump’s April 2 announcement of global tariffs, which he has hailed as “Liberation Day,” even those closest to the president — from Vice President JD Vance to his chief of staff Susie Wiles and his own Cabinet officials — have privately indicated that they’re unsure exactly what the boss will do, according to three people who have spoken with them.

➡️While some details of the administration’s plan for what Trump has dubbed “reciprocal tariffs” on global trading partners are starting to trickle out, the president has at times upended them or floated contradictory policies that are keeping everyone — even his inner circle — guessing.

💬No one knows what the fuck is going on,” said one White House ally close to Trump’s inner circle, granted anonymity to speak freely. “What are they going to tariff? Who are they gonna tariff and at what rates? Like, the very basic questions haven’t been answered yet.”

➡️There’s an uneasy feeling as even people close to the president hold their breath for “Liberation Day.” After all, Trump — who once dubbed tariffs “the most beautiful word in the dictionary” — continues to double down on his desire to punish nations who he believes have cheated the U.S.
