И там, кто бы мог подумать, герой встречает призрак самого По (неплохое исполнение от Бена Чаплина). Сумрачный поэт в фильме – эдакий Вергилий, сопровождающий писателя по мистическим местам: как города, так и собственной психики (куда без самой поэтический темы для По – смерти прекрасной девушки).
«Между», очевидно, не самый удачный проект Копполы (но и не грандиозный просак, как «Мегалополис»), но сделанный с любовью к дешевой бутафорской готике и ужасам Роджера Кормана, который в 60-х прославился своими рукотворными адаптациями новелл По. И с которым, к слову, Коппола чуть позднее работал в качестве подмастерья.
