Отпирание ствола и, следовательно, весь цикл автоматики происходит за счёт накопившегося импульса отдачи, энергии выстрела. Где взять достаточно энергии, если пороховые газы заперты в гильзе? В ПСС используется такое решение, как плавающий патронник. Именно он, при выталкивании и врезании пули в нарезы, отходя назад, создаёт импульс для начала движения затвора. Подобное решение применялось в пистолетах Р3 и Р4, которые являлись переделками из пистолетов ТТ для стрельбы патронами 22LR. В остальном "Вул" достаточно прост в эксплуатации, УСМ в большей части унифицирован с ПМ.
