Диаметр каждой медали составлял 73 мм, вес – более 120 грамм. В серию вошли 16 медалей, каждая из которых была посвящена той или иной научной дисциплине.
Отдельная медаль была посвящена и химии. На обеих сторонах медали были изложены основные химические концепции того времени. Один из экземпляров этой медали хранится в Американском нумизматическом обществе, откуда и было взято ее изображение.
