За эти годы менялись названия, но не принципы издания. Как и прежде, материалы журналистов посвящены жизни на селе. В своих материалах они пишут о людях, их работе и быте, достижениях и заботах.
Сегодня «Марий Эл» выходит раз в неделю на 32 полосах. Тираж – 2 300 экземпляров. Газету читают во многих марийских семьях, особенно в районах республики.
