WhatsApp, a rival messaging platform, introduced some measures to counter disinformation when Covid-19 was first sweeping the world. Messages are not fully encrypted by default. Voice and video calls are also completely encrypted. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts.
