25 мая на протяжении всего дня читатели издания «Зеркало» сообщали об этой проблеме. Один из читателей издания протестировал минимум четыре популярных сервиса — Psiphon, Turbo VPN, HUB VPN и TunnelBear, и все они не работали.

Белорусские киберактивисты в интервью оппозиционным СМИ уточнили, что в стране не работали даже частные VPN. Поэтому, по их мнению, происходила не блокировка отдельных сервисов. Возможно, власти блокировали с помощью DPI.
Многие связывают это с попыткой властей помешать электронному голосованию в Координационный совет оппозиции Беларуси.
