👀 SZ-Journalist vergleicht Friedrich Merz mit Adolf #Hitler

In der Debatte um eine schärfere Asylpolitik kommentierte Bernd #Kramer, Journalist bei der Süddeutschen Zeitung, auf X am Wochenende einen Tweet von Friedrich Merz mit „der Führer hat gesprochen“. Weiter schrieb er zu einem anderen Post: „Carsten Linnemann ist bereits genervt vom ‚Brandmauergerede‘. In diesem Sinne: Sieg Heil, liebe CDU.“

Diese Aussagen kamen bei #Merz gar nicht gut an. Am Montag äußerte er sich während eines Pressestatements der CDU kritisch dazu. Die Zeitung hat sich danach in aller Form von Kramers Äußerungen distanziert und sie aufs Schärfste verurteilt.

Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram. Emerson Brooking, a disinformation expert at the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, said: "Back in the Wild West period of content moderation, like 2014 or 2015, maybe they could have gotten away with it, but it stands in marked contrast with how other companies run themselves today." The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 230 points, or 0.7%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.3% and 2.2%, respectively. All three indexes began the day with gains before selling off.
