Fundraiser for Rouslan Sidiki’s legal defence

Rouslan Sidiki is an anarchist from Ryazan, an opponent of the war, and a dual citizen of Russia and Italy. He stands accused of sabotage, including the bombing of railway tracks and an attack on a military airfield in the Ryazan region. The charges against him include “terrorism,” “undertaking training with the intention of perpetrating acts of terrorism,” and the handling of explosives.

Sidiki maintains that his actions were motivated by the desire to prevent harm caused by military operations, with his sole aim being to damage military infrastructure. If convicted of all charges, he faces up to life imprisonment.

You can read more about Sidiki and his case in the accompanying cards.

To secure his defense over the next six months, we need €4,000.

Telegram | DID YOU KNOW?

Telegram boasts 500 million users, who share information individually and in groups in relative security. But Telegram's use as a one-way broadcast channel — which followers can join but not reply to — means content from inauthentic accounts can easily reach large, captive and eager audiences. The next bit isn’t clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Fools’ prank. TechCrunch implies that it was a matter of principle, but it’s hard to be clear on the wheres, whos and whys. Similarly, on April 17th, the Moscow Times quoted Durov as saying that he quit the company after being pressured to reveal account details about Ukrainians protesting the then-president Viktor Yanukovych. Again, in contrast to Facebook, Google and Twitter, Telegram's founder Pavel Durov runs his company in relative secrecy from Dubai. In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so. Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that there were "certain positive developments" occurring in the talks with Ukraine, according to a transcript of their meeting. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis."
