Этот вопрос находился на личном контроле Губернатора Александра Беглова. К ликвидации свалки приступили в июле 2022 года — мусор начали вывозить на предприятие, которое занимается в том числе сбором и утилизацией отходов 4 и 5 классов опасности.
В общей сложности площадку завода расчистили от 105 тысяч кубометров мусора — это сопоставимо с объёмом 42 олимпийских бассейнов. Таким образом удалось решить один из самых сложных экологических вопросов для Петербурга.
