В новой Стратегии пространственного развития тоже делается акцент на модернизацию угольной промышленности Сибири и создание производственных цепочек, чтобы перерабатывать уголь на месте и создавать продукт с более высокой добавленной стоимостью.
Также важно дальше переориентировать добычу на Дальний Восток, где логистическое плечо до основных рынков сбыта существенно меньше. Самый очевидный кандидат на расширение — Эльгинское месторождение в Южной Якутии, откуда уже дотянули частную железную дорогу до порта на Охотском море. Тем более, там велики запасы особо ценного коксующегося угля.
