Колокольню при Николаевском соборе возвели в 1800 году. При строительстве Угличского водохранилища в 1930-е старая часть Калязина была затоплена, а храм разобран. Колокольню, окруженную со всех сторон водой, превратили в маяк. В 2021 году она была отреставрирована и открыта для посещения.
