The teenager infected with H5N1 stable but remains critically ill (after three weeks)

B.C. health officials say they still do not know how a Fraser Valley teenager became infected with avian influenza, but extensive testing have not identified any other cases.

There is no evidence of transmission from this young person and no evidence of other cases right now in British Columbia.

Testing by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control found the strain the teenager was infected with has been detected in wild birds and poultry farm outbreaks in B.C. It is not related to the the virus found in dairy cattle in the U.S.

The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm.
