با این‌که کانالشان خصوصی است و با این پیام نمی‌توان وارد شد و سایر پیام‌ها را دید، از همین یک پیام معلوم است که نه‌تنها کانال ارتباطی به سازمان بهداشت جهانی ندارد بلکه همدست کوروناویروس است. آثار سوء مطالب نادرستی که دانسته یا نادانسته توسط چنین کانال‌هایی منتشر می‌شود غیرقابل جبران است. لازم است تک‌تک ما با اطلاع‌رسانی وسیع آثار سوء را کاهش دهیم.

Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. He said that since his platform does not have the capacity to check all channels, it may restrict some in Russia and Ukraine "for the duration of the conflict," but then reversed course hours later after many users complained that Telegram was an important source of information.
