Подробно освещены все визиты за пределы страны и практически все поездки по территории СССР – 162 визита в 258 городов, посёлков и сёл 29 стран мира и Советского Союза. Рассказано обо всех мероприятиях, в которых участвовал первый космонавт, и о людях, с которыми он встречался в ходе своих путешествий. В книге содержится около 1900 фотографий, найденных в результате долгих поисков в отечественных и зарубежных архивах и других различных источниках.
