Alexander Popov is known around the world for presenting a wireless lightning detector he built that could detect radio noise from lightning strikes. The presentation was held on May 7 1895, which is celebrated in Russia to this day as Radio Day.

In 1905, Popov became director of LETI, which today is one of the Open Doors organizing universities.

June 12 is one of Russia's biggest national holidays, signifying the moment our country recognized itself as a separate entity with its own future as opposed to being part of the USSR.

A delegation from the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) is on a fact-finding visit to Tomsk Polytechnic University. Together with representatives of the Rosatom State Corporation and enterprises (GSPI JSC, SSC RIAR JSC, RTS LLC, Rosatom Technical Academy), the delegation members not only visited the TPU research nuclear reactor and laboratories, but also reviewed the main aspects related to the staff training for the development of projects in the field of nuclear technology in the republic.

Dubbed "Russian Leonardo" and the "human factory" by the public, Vladimir Shukhov graduated from BMTSU (which today is one of Open Doors organizing universities) and went on to become a revolutionary engineer, creator of unique hyperboloid towers - the most famous of which is the Shukhov TV tower in Moscow.

A ceremonial diploma awarding event took place at RUDN for the first graduates of the "Mining Geology" joint master's program. As part of this program, conducted in English, qualified specialists were trained for the mining sector, including six graduates from the United Republic of Tanzania (the celebration was also attended by a Republic of Namibia national who graduated from NITU "MISIS").

Research by young scientist Mikhail Kotelny of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology of Moscow Polytechnic University (Department of Chembiotech) is aimed at developing bioreactors that allow for the efficient growth of organic tissue. Organic tissues obtained with specified parameters can be further used in the field of Regenerative Medicine.

The modern and rapidly developing field of regenerative medicine requires new technical solutions for both improving cell culture technology and creating equipment for all stages of the process.

Mikhail developed and patented two promising bioreactor designs during his first year of graduate school.

Kirill Prigoda, a renowned polytechnic, assistant at the Higher School of Sports Education at SPbPU, enjoyed triumph at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. He won gold in the combined mixed relay 4×100 meters. Prior to that, he secured a silver medal in the individual event for the 50-meter breaststroke.

The World Championships took place in Singapore from July 11 to August 3. On July 30, Kirill Prigoda, Miron Lifintsev, Daria Klepikova, and Daria Trofimova finished first in the combined relay. The team not only achieved a confident victory in the final but also set a new world championship record of 3:37.37. This victory is historic — prior to this, Russian swimmers had not won a relay at major international tournaments for 22 years.

The team from Saint Petersburg State University took first place at the 32nd International Mathematics Competition IMC-2025, held in the Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad. Over 430 students, representing more than 50 leading universities from around the world, participated in the intellectual competition.

His achievements were made possible through knowledge and skills gained at Moscow Polytechnic University. Siar Mushtak (Said Hamed Siar Mushtak) came to Russia from Afghanistan, completed his bachelor's degree at Moscow Polytech, currently works at the university's Flying Robotics Laboratory, and plans to pursue a master's degree at his alma mater.

Siar participated in several events of the project-based educational intensive "Archipelago 2025," held in Skolkovo from August 7-17.

The competition is held in 14 interdisciplinary subject areas and four tracks: bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral.

Winners and runners-up receive the right to free education or employment (depending on the participation track) at one of the leading Russian universities.

Foreign citizens who have higher education or are completing the relevant level of education in 2026 can participate in the competition.
