4⃣ آرامگاه سامانیان شبیه چارتاقی ساخته شده و از معماری سُغدی Sogdian، ساسانی، ایرانی، کلاسیک و بیزانسی بهره‌مند است و ویژگی‌های گسترش‌یافته در معماری اسلامی مانند گنبدهای گِرد و نيم‌گنبدها، تاق‌های نوک‌تیز، درگاه‌های استادانه، ستون‌ها و طرح‌های هندسی پیچیده در آجرکاری را نیز در خود جای داده.

این بنا دارای پلان مربعی متقارن با چهار سردر کاملاً مشابه و تو رفته و چهار نمای کاملاً هم‌شکل است
به این ترتیب در این بنا سلسله مراتب ورود به فضا نداریم اما امروزه تنها می‌توان از سردر شرقیِ بنا، به مقبره وارد شد.

در چنین بناهایی مکعب را نماد زمین و گنبد را نماد آسمان در نظر می‌گیرند و این بنا بر روی هم به صورت نمادین جهان را نشان می‌دهد.
