Через год был назначен замруководителя департамента экономразвития. Еще через год – замгубернатора по экономике и региональному развитию. С 2016 года дважды проходил в Думу от ЕР, сейчас работает первым зампредом комитета по энергетике.
Ранее он много выступал по теме угольной промышленности, призывал к снижению ж/д тарифов для перевозки угля.
