The Embassy staff, compatriots living in the United States, and Americans who care about the events of the Great Patriotic War cherish the memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War. We make every effort to preserve the historical truth and glorify the feat of the Victors' Generation. We honor the heroes of those harsh years, who at the cost of their lives liberated the world from Nazi filth.
On January 11, on the 80th anniversary of the death of Soviet pilots - participants of the Zebra project to transfer Catalina seaplanes to the USSR in Elizabeth City (North Carolina), grateful descendants paid tribute to the valor and courage of our ancestors. As a sign of remembrance and sorrow, they lowered scarlet carnations onto the water.
On this day in 1945 when taking off from the Pasquotank River there was a plane crash, the victims of which were 4 Red Army soldiers: commander - Captain Nikolai Mikhailovich Chikov, navigator - Captain Vladimir Moiseevich Levin, flight engineer - Lieutenant Dmitry Mikhailovich Medvedev and flight mechanic - Lieutenant Afanasy Ivanovich Borodin, as well as British Air Force navigator - Lieutenant Peter Nataros.
🇷🇺🇺🇸 Project Zebra, declassified in December 2012, is one of the symbols of the combat brotherhood of the USSR and the USA, who fought shoulder to shoulder against the Nazi executioners. It serves as an example of unity between the two countries, which managed to overcome their differences in time to fight against a common enemy. Due to the efforts of the members of the anti-Hitler coalition, with the decisive role of the Red Army, we liberated the world from the “brown plague”.
It is sad that the West is trying to revise history, belittling the greatest feat of the Soviet people in defeating the Nazi hordes and saving many peoples of “non-Aryan” origin from annihilation. While in the United States, we are acutely aware of the desire of the local political establishment to forget the stages of the Russian-American alliance during the Second World War. The refusal to approve the visit of Russian diplomats to Elizabeth City for the memorial ceremony is a clear confirmation of this.
🎖 In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, it is especially important to remember the lessons of history, to fight against any attempts to justify Nazi criminals and their accomplices, and even more so to put them on a pedestal of honor, as is done in Ukraine. It is necessary to tell the younger generation about the tragic events of the past, working together to immortalize the memory of the heroes of those years.
We bow to the defenders of the Fatherland. No one is forgotten and nothing is forgotten!

Telegram has gained a reputation as the “secure” communications app in the post-Soviet states, but whenever you make choices about your digital security, it’s important to start by asking yourself, “What exactly am I securing? And who am I securing it from?” These questions should inform your decisions about whether you are using the right tool or platform for your digital security needs. Telegram is certainly not the most secure messaging app on the market right now. Its security model requires users to place a great deal of trust in Telegram’s ability to protect user data. For some users, this may be good enough for now. For others, it may be wiser to move to a different platform for certain kinds of high-risk communications. This ability to mix the public and the private, as well as the ability to use bots to engage with users has proved to be problematic. In early 2021, a database selling phone numbers pulled from Facebook was selling numbers for $20 per lookup. Similarly, security researchers found a network of deepfake bots on the platform that were generating images of people submitted by users to create non-consensual imagery, some of which involved children. Following this, Sebi, in an order passed in January 2022, established that the administrators of a Telegram channel having a large subscriber base enticed the subscribers to act upon recommendations that were circulated by those administrators on the channel, leading to significant price and volume impact in various scrips. In the United States, Telegram's lower public profile has helped it mostly avoid high level scrutiny from Congress, but it has not gone unnoticed. I want a secure messaging app, should I use Telegram?
