По сообщению Минобороны России, 3 января с территории Украины была предпринята попытка атаковать Белгородскую область оперативно-тактическими ракетами ATACMS американского производства.

Все ракеты, по заявлению Минобороны, были перехвачены и уничтожены зенитными ракетными комплексами С-400 и "Панцирь-СМ". Министерство обещает адекватный ответ на эту попытку нападения.

В Мурманске 4 января проведена акция общественным движением НОД в поддержку заявлений Минобороны, с призывом публично заявить о списке целей на территории США в полётных заданиях для стратегических ракет.
