The marvellous floor of Florence Cathedral offers, to those who look at it from above, an optical illusion that gives the impression of a deep abyss. This creation of white, red, black and green marble was carried out over 160 years under the direction of the Italian Renaissance architect and sculptor Baccio d'Agnolo (1462-1543).
