"تغالى خلفاء بني العبَّاس في تشييد قصورهم، وعمروها بأسباب الترف الماديِّ، ووسائل اللذات الجسمانية، وأسبغوا عليها كلَّ ما يستهوي من جمالٍ وفنٍّ، وتسامت همم الخُلفاء إلى إظهار جلال الخلافة في البناء والتشييد، فما قصَّر في ذلك منهم أوَّل ولا أخير، وباهت بغداد بتلك القصور أمصار العالم كلُّه؛ ولـٰكنَّهم لم يهتدوا إلى البيَّنة التي تخمل كلَّ بناء، ولم ينفقوا في تشييد المدرسة بعض ما ينفقون في تشييد القصر من مالٍ وعناية وذوق؛ إلى أن جاء أحد وزرائهم فسبق للمنقبة التي تغطي المناقب، وشاد المدرسة النظاميَّة؛ هنالك علمت بغداد أن كلَّ ما حازَته من جمال كانت تنقصه نقطة الجمال، وأنَّ كلَّ ما وصلت إليه من عظمةٍ كان ينقصه سرُّ العظمة؛ وأنَّ كلَّ ما كتب عنها التاريخ، ودون وصفها الشعر خيالٌ أيَّدته هـٰذه الحقيقة، وأن كلَّ ما الجانبان بناءٌ تنقصه لبنة التمام".

You may recall that, back when Facebook started changing WhatsApp’s terms of service, a number of news outlets reported on, and even recommended, switching to Telegram. Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. In the past, it was noticed that through bulk SMSes, investors were induced to invest in or purchase the stocks of certain listed companies. Recently, Durav wrote on his Telegram channel that users' right to privacy, in light of the war in Ukraine, is "sacred, now more than ever." Emerson Brooking, a disinformation expert at the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, said: "Back in the Wild West period of content moderation, like 2014 or 2015, maybe they could have gotten away with it, but it stands in marked contrast with how other companies run themselves today."
