«На начальной стадии легко можно было вылечить. Но меня видишь сгноили. Больше года отказывали в лечении, даже гистологию с биопсией не делали», — писал он другому фигуранту дела Владимиру Бурмаю.
Только в мае 2024 года, уже в очень тяжелом состоянии Бузмакова отпустили под домашний арест. 28 мая его прооперировали в гражданской больнице. «Отрезали челюсть полностью. Дышу через трахеостому, питаюсь через зонд. Жить буду скорее всего», — рассказал он в той же переписке. Но с болезнью не справился, и 20 июля скончался.
