яркий цвет и иллюзия бабочки поменьше, создаваемая с помощью полос на задних крыльях, тут же исчезают, стоит ей сесть. так она (и другие Catocala, конкретный вид я мог перепутать) «растворяются» в окружающей среде и скрываются от хищников.
