در این یاداشت، به یکی از مناسک شهری که امروز در بخشی از اروپا و در آمریکای لاتین مرسوم است، یعنی «گاو بازی»(corrida) اشاره می‌کنیم. «گاوبازی»، سنتی بسیار رایج و باستانی در کشورهای اسپانیا، پرتغال، جنوب فرانسه و برخی از کشورهای آمریکای لاتین همچون کلمبیا و پرواست. در این سنت یک گاو نر قوی هیکل ( که ژان پیر دیگار، انسان‌شناس ِ متخصص رابطه انسان و حیوان، آن را «تورو براو» Toro bravo می‌نامد) با گروهی از گاوبازان (تورِروها) نبرد میکند؛ نبردی که در سه مرحله انجام می‌گیرد و در آن، ابتدا او را با نیزه و شمشیر زخمی و سپس می‌کُشند. گاوباز سواره (پیکادور) در مرحله نخست با اسبش وارد زمین شده و با نیزه‌ای گاو را زخمی میکند و گاوباز پیاده (ماتادور) در آخرین مرحله گاو را با شمشیری می‌کشد...

What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. The company maintains that it cannot act against individual or group chats, which are “private amongst their participants,” but it will respond to requests in relation to sticker sets, channels and bots which are publicly available. During the invasion of Ukraine, Pavel Durov has wrestled with this issue a lot more prominently than he has before. Channels like Donbass Insider and Bellum Acta, as reported by Foreign Policy, started pumping out pro-Russian propaganda as the invasion began. So much so that the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council issued a statement labeling which accounts are Russian-backed. Ukrainian officials, in potential violation of the Geneva Convention, have shared imagery of dead and captured Russian soldiers on the platform. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram. In December 2021, Sebi officials had conducted a search and seizure operation at the premises of certain persons carrying out similar manipulative activities through Telegram channels. The regulator said it has been undertaking several campaigns to educate the investors to be vigilant while taking investment decisions based on stock tips.
