Ранее агентство РБК сообщало, что строительство АЭС, в случае одобрения, планируется на юго-востоке Казахстана, у села Улькен. Построить станцию планируется до 2035 года. Стоимость объекта оценивается в $10-12 млрд. Подрядчика выберут на конкурентной основе среди четырех компаний: российского «Росатома», китайской национальной ядерной корпорации, южнокорейской KHNP, французской EDF.
