Tamara Nikolayevna Moskvina was born on June 26, 1941, in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), four days after the Great Patriotic War began. The family evacuated to a small village in the Ural Mountains and returned in 1948. Having started skating at ten years, Tamara Moskvina went on to become a six-times USSR champion, World and Europe silver medalist, an Honored Coach of the USSR and Russia, the list goes on and on...

Here are two videos of her skating: one filmed in December of 2024, at the age of 83, at the opening of a renovated skating rink in Saint Petersburg, and the other of her skating in 1968, at the age of 27, at the European Figure Skating Championship, when she finished the performance with the Biellmann spin that she invented and first performed in 1960, even though it was later named after a different skater.

The Biellmann spin is a spin in which the skater takes her or his (yes, men perform it nowadays, too) skate, pulls it behind the head in an almost full split, and spins on the other leg.
