"У меня — как у очень многих незрелых юнцов в то, ставшее даже и нам самим уже трудно восстановимым в самой психологии своей, время — была дома австрийская винтовка: мне прислал ее в подарок, как трофей, дядя Миша, артиллерист, командир батареи в Карпатах. Была винтовка, и было около сотни австрийских же патронов, с тупоносыми, не похожими на наши пулями.
Это все по тем временам было совершенно естественно: трофей!"
