Ранее с 2022 по 2024 гг Курманбаев возглавлял правление АО «КазТрансОйл». Источники пишут, что Бактыкожа Измухамбетов таким образом спасает зятя от уголовного преследования. Сейчас в «КазТрансОйле» идут проверки, возбуждено уголовное дело. Под следствием находятся управляющий директор по коммерции Берик Салпек и сотрудники ТОО «Магистральный водовод» - дочерней компанией АО «КазТрансОйл».
Другой близкий родственник мажилисмена Бактыкожы Измухамбетова - его племянник Ринат Измухамбет, сейчас возглавляет компанию «Эмбамунайгаз».
