Mit General v. Pannwitz im Bandenkampf (2025)
Dr. Herbert Michner, edited by Adrian Matthes

"With General v. Pannwitz in Band Warfare: In the Cauldron from Stalingrad to the Balkans" is written by Herbert Michner from Klagenfurt. He served for four years mounted in the Wehrmacht and kept a diary of his experiences. Now, at the age of 103, he looks back on his youth and military service, which took him from the Cavalry Regiment No. 11 in Stockerau to Russia. In 1942, he participated in the advance into the Don bend, which culminated in the encirclement at Stalingrad. He was evacuated wounded from the battlefield.

The following years of the war saw him involved in band fighting with the 1st Cossack Division in the Balkans. As an adjutant officer in the Plastun Brigade "Kononow," he experienced the capitulation in Carinthia in May 1945.

The book is 294 pages long and contains 197 partly color illustrations. It is formatted in A5 size, hardcover, and bound.

Language: German. Mr. Michner has made great efforts to personally sign autograph cards for his readers. This is certainly the last chance to get a signature from a First Lieutenant and bearer of the band combat badge. A photo of him signing is available in the product gallery. Please note that signatures may vary slightly and reflect the handwriting of a 102-year-old. Personal dedications are not possible due to demand and logistical reasons.
