Позже посевные площади и перерабатывающие производства были утрачены, однако сегодня российское коноплеводство переживает ренессанс.
По прогнозу Минсельхоза РФ, площади под технической коноплей к 2025 году вырастут до 20 тысяч га. В целом для обеспечения внутренних потребностей необходимо увеличить посевы под этой лубяной культурой до 50 тысяч га.
