Во время разворота в самолет попала вражеская ракета из ПЗРК. Экипаж принял решение направить подбитый самолет на бронетанковую колонну. Из горящего Су-24М в радиоэфире прозвучала фраза «Встречайте, суки, Папу…» и через 5-7 секунд самолёт врезался в скопление бронетехники ВСУ.
