Уникальная комета ATLAS достигнет перигелия и может стать видимой
Комета C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) 13 января пройдет рядом с Солнцем и может стать видимой невооружённым глазом, 3 января об этом сообщил научный руководитель обсерватории Ка-Дар и астрофермы «Астроверты» Стас Короткий в интервью РИА Новости.
Комета C/2024 G3 (ATLAS), открытая 5 апреля 2024 года с помощью телескопов системы ATLAS, приблизится к Солнцу на минимальное расстояние 13 января. Этот момент, называемый перигелием, станет испытанием для небесного тела: температура на поверхности кометы, состоящей в основном из льда, может достичь нескольких тысяч градусов. Астрономы отмечают, что такие экстремальные условия способны разрушить ядро кометы или полностью испарить её.
Особенностью этой кометы станет то, что она пройдет в четыре раза ближе к Солнцу, чем орбита Меркурия, что создает дополнительные трудности для её наблюдения. Яркость светила, особенно во время рассвета и заката, может затруднить её обнаружение.
