The next bit isnāt clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Foolsā prank. TechCrunch implies that it was a matter of principle, but itās hard to be clear on the wheres, whos and whys. Markets have been expecting heavy restrictions on Russian oil, some of which the U.S. has already imposed, and that would reduce the global supply and bring about even more burdensome inflation. Multiple pro-Kremlin media figures circulated the post's false claims, including prominent Russian journalist Vladimir Soloviev and the state-controlled Russian outlet RT, according to the DFR Lab's report. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces "destroy the invaders wherever we can."
