Ансамбль «Солисты Екатерины Великой» и их гостья Екатерина отправляются в музыкально-поэтическое путешествие в мир эстетики эпохи барокко вместе с главным героем, композитором XVIII века Франческо Арайя, прибывшим в Россию по приглашению Анны Иоанновны.
Главный герой событий, Франческо Арайя, создал первую оперу на русском языке — «Цефал и Прокрис». В фильме звучат шесть арий из опер «Сила Любви и Ненависти», «Селевк», «Притворный Нин, или Узнанная Семирамида», «Цефал и Прокрис».
