The Minnesota Heritage Flag
In light of the defacing of Minnesota's flag and seal as an act to deprive the state of its symbols of ethnic heritage, a version has been created by activists which strikes the heritage of the state in even bolder form. The design features the French motto of the state, reading "The Star of The North" alongside a rifle that leads a plow atop a crushed Indian war spear. The diamond center of the North Star represents the rough outline of Fort Snelling, the bastion from which the state was conquered and savage tribes subdued.
