Social media. You shouldn’t have it. Of course I could just say that you shouldn’t have social media because it can and will be used to dox you. And, that is true. However, this will be a more “normie” reason as to why.

I don’t use social media other than telegram, which I mainly use to read news. I deleted my Instagram back in 2018. Deleted my Facebook in 2021. Never used TikTok. I only have Snapchat because of a group chat in there. Many think that not having social media will mean you are out of the loop of things. Sure, but it depends what that is. Celebrity drama? Yes. Meeting up with friends? No.

Even when I did have social media, I never really used it actively. I didn’t care about sports, didn’t care about celebrities, didn’t care about drama, etc. I just live in the moment. I enjoy life. I take pictures of beautiful landscapes and artwork so I can print out and show my friends and family.

If I want an update from a friend, I text, call, or FaceTime them. It not only keeps you informed, but physically shows you think about them and care, instead of just mindlessly liking a picture. One thing that I’ve also found, is that people, predominantly Gen Z, will always find it interesting when someone says they don’t use social media. There is also a growing trend of Gen Z knowing social media is bad. These two combinations show what an addiction is like. Despite knowing, they continue to use, and they envy those who stopped.

Live in the moment. Grow attention span back.

Telegram | DID YOU KNOW?

Date: |

Just days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Durov wrote that Telegram was "increasingly becoming a source of unverified information," and he worried about the app being used to "incite ethnic hatred." And indeed, volatility has been a hallmark of the market environment so far in 2022, with the S&P 500 still down more than 10% for the year-to-date after first sliding into a correction last month. The CBOE Volatility Index, or VIX, has held at a lofty level of more than 30. Stocks closed in the red Friday as investors weighed upbeat remarks from Russian President Vladimir Putin about diplomatic discussions with Ukraine against a weaker-than-expected print on U.S. consumer sentiment. Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts. "The argument from Telegram is, 'You should trust us because we tell you that we're trustworthy,'" Maréchal said. "It's really in the eye of the beholder whether that's something you want to buy into."
