While Telegram has been embroiled in controversy for much of its life, it has become a vital source of communication during the invasion of Ukraine. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been a driving force in markets for the past few weeks. Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements.
