В ходе вручения награды Атлантического совета японскому премьер-министру Фумио Кисиде Урсула фон дер Ляйен вспомнила, что его семья родом из Хиросимы - при бомбардировке которой погибли его родственники. Вину за эту трагедию она попыталась возложить на Россию. На это обратила внимание официальный представитель МИД Мария Захарова.
«Многие ваши родственники погибли, когда атомная бомба сравняла Хиросиму с землёй. Вы выросли на историях выживших и хотели, чтобы мы вняли тем же историям, взглянули в прошлое и узнали что-то о будущем... Россия угрожает вновь использовать ядерное оружие. Это отвратительно, это опасно и под сенью [в контексте] Хиросимы - непростительно», - процитировала слова председателя Еврокомиссии Мария Захарова.
При этом фон дер Ляйен, естественно, ни слова не сказала о США - тех, кто реально сбросил бомбы на Хиросиму и Нагасаки.
