The rebels: We captured the Captagon factories of Maher al-Assad, Bashar al-Assad's brother

With the fall of the regime, the rebels managed to get their hands on one of the most lucrative industries of the Assad family: exporting drugs all over the Middle East.

Maher al-Assad, who commanded the fourth division of the Syrian army, reached every point he saw relevant to smuggle drugs through to Jordan, Saudi Arabia and more.
Captagon is part of Hezbollah's revenue system and it can be assumed that there was significant cooperation between Maher al-Assad and Hezbollah in this area.

According to estimates in Syria, Maher al-Assad made about five billion dollars a year from the drug production and distribution industry.

Investors took profits on Friday while they could ahead of the weekend, explained Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report Research. Saturday and Sunday could easily bring unfortunate news on the war front—and traders would rather be able to sell any recent winnings at Friday’s earlier prices than wait for a potentially lower price at Monday’s open. What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. In addition, Telegram now supports the use of third-party streaming tools like OBS Studio and XSplit to broadcast live video, allowing users to add overlays and multi-screen layouts for a more professional look. Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation. In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so.
