If you haven’t watched “Mon Oncle”, Jacques Tati’s first color movie that wittily parodies the spread of the International Style in France and Le Corbusier-inspired treatment of modern houses, it’s going to make your next movie night a success. If you have watched it, however, you may already know that some of the furnishings of Villa Arpel were designed by none other than Jacques Tati and his set designer, Jacques Lagrange. We’re referring to the Monsieur Arpel rocking chair, Madame Arpel sofa, and the Haricot couch which was so uncomfortable that Mr Hulot had to turn it on its side, thereby revealing its uncanny resemblance to Charlotte Perriand’s legendary lounger.

Interestingly, all of these pieces were re-issued, based solely on the movie stills, by the now-defunct Domeau and Pérès, a French studio founded by Bruno Domeau and Philippe Pérès, fans of Tati’s oeuvre, in 1996.

Telegram | DID YOU KNOW?

But Telegram says people want to keep their chat history when they get a new phone, and they like having a data backup that will sync their chats across multiple devices. And that is why they let people choose whether they want their messages to be encrypted or not. When not turned on, though, chats are stored on Telegram's services, which are scattered throughout the world. But it has "disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments," Telegram states on its website. And indeed, volatility has been a hallmark of the market environment so far in 2022, with the S&P 500 still down more than 10% for the year-to-date after first sliding into a correction last month. The CBOE Volatility Index, or VIX, has held at a lofty level of more than 30. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. The Security Service of Ukraine said in a tweet that it was able to effectively target Russian convoys near Kyiv because of messages sent to an official Telegram bot account called "STOP Russian War." On December 23rd, 2020, Pavel Durov posted to his channel that the company would need to start generating revenue. In early 2021, he added that any advertising on the platform would not use user data for targeting, and that it would be focused on “large one-to-many channels.” He pledged that ads would be “non-intrusive” and that most users would simply not notice any change.
