За несколько недель до праздника во дворце начиналась суматоха. Но к сочельнику всё уже было готово и в полдень во дворце наступало всеобщее затишье.

После вечерней службы устраивался семейный обед и раздавались подарки.

На следующий день дети, вооружившись ножницами, взбирались на стремянки и срезали с ёлок все до последнего украшения.
После этого ритуала ёлки из дворца убирали.
